Talk: Art + Perfume at Moderna Museet

  • Moderna Museet 4 Exercisplan Stockholm, Stockholms län, 111 49 Sweden (map)

Please note that this talk is given in Swedish for Klubb Moderna members

This morning the theme is Art + Perfume where under the heading "The invisible impression" we talk about how the sense of smell affects what we create, what we see and what we feel. Hans Berg, Victor Langer and Jenny Lantz approach scent and perfume from different perspectives. How do you translate an abstract feeling into a scent molecule, how has the role of perfume changed historically, and how can a scented room change how we experience visual art?

More about the panelists

Hans Berg, artist, musician and composer (one half of the duo Djurberg Berg). He moves habitually between the auditory and the visual, and has taken the step into the purely sensory through a scent collaboration with the niche perfume brand Stora Skuggan.

Victor Langer, perfume historian specializing in scent as a communicative expression, intangible world heritage and social phenomenon. He regularly lectures at museums and cultural institutions and often appears in the media as a subject expert.

Jenny Lantz, associate professor of business administration at the Stockholm School of Economics with a background in fashion science. She has researched the transformation and value creation of the perfume field, and is the author of the book Expedition Perfume.

Moderator: Richard Feigin, founder of Super Vox, with podcasts and conversations about Art, Design and Architecture.
