Her Majesty the Rose is one of the most important raw materials in perfume history and has been cultivated in the Middle East, Africa and Europe since ancient times. Today, two varieties are used in the perfume industry: Rosa Centifolia and Rosa Damascena.
In this lecture, you will learn about the history of both roses, as well as how they are cultivated and used in the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF, we will sample both raw materials and isolated fragrance molecules, alongside a selection of contemporary perfume interpretations from Nordiska Kompaniet.
