Rose geranium has its historical origins in South Africa, where the plant was used for its aromatic and healing properties before spreading to Europe during the 18th century. In the perfume industry today, it is primarily cultivated in Egypt and on Réunion, and has become a valued component in everything from natural medicine and skincare to perfume compositions with green, rose-like facets.
In this lecture, you will learn about the full history of geranium, as well as how it is cultivated and used within the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF, we will smell both raw materials and isolated fragrance molecules, side by side with contemporary perfumes from Nordiska Kompaniet.
